Status update.. kind of!!

Lately, there is no personal information in here.. so let me start..

Recently I went to my cousins marriage.. in my home town. Which was really beautiful. Interestingly.. celebrations can be quite entertaining if you are interested in celebrating and if you can get right set of people in right numbers :)

We guys in our apartment were struggling to get a broadband Internet connection for a while. Though some of our friends suggested us to go with BSNL, we started looking at some private alternatives. Firstly with the Airtel, then with Reliance. Finally with TATA Indicom fellows. Anyways.. we are at home after these Indicom guys.. agreed for new connections in our area..

My Dad started constructing a new house in my native place... with a lot things he claims failing... it is becoming more of a fun exercise.. Fun to us and time pass to my Dad. People got to kill time someway....!!!

My life.. nothing special.. there used to be times when I used think and get frustrated of wasting time.. counting productive hours and mins. Now I'm more relaxed.. But I'm concerned about one thing.. I will obsolete very soon with this rate of learning!!!

And personal personal things.. It is better to use the word 'confusing' I guess ;)

Carporate musings..

There is a guy I know...

He was working on a new resin system. That was a large scale testing facility. On an unfortunate day he cut his thumb in a wild accident in the facility. In that sad moment too... he got an interesting idea and he put his cut thumb in that resin liquid and let that set. This incident happened 20 to 30 years back.. Now he uses that resin ball with his thumb in it as a paper weight..

I went to his lab once and saw a lot of tree pots on a special grill near to the roof of that lab.. and I asked him about them.. He started telling the history of individual tree pot.. One of it was a gift from his girl friend on one of his birth day.. (25 or 30 years old..) He narrated the whole history of each tree pot, how one of the tree pot out grew a tiny pot.. and when changed the tree to another pot and all..

On a fine day.. he was told that he was fired.. 'cas of cost cutting business..!!

ps: Watch this movie The Corporation if you have time. We keep on forgetting that there is nothing emotional about our work palce!!

How boredom is good..

After almost four or five months of lazying around (excluding office hours)..  yesterday at a frustrating moment, I decided that I would do some thing.. different. obviously some tech-geek stuff.... 

There aren't much that interest me.. technical side.. I would read a lot of garbage which would apparently not at all useful at this point.. but will give me a feel of whats going on in the world.. may be some times I will go to an extent of hands on.. 

and for the non-technical things... most of the things are random.. can start from simply lazying around to unplanned travels and other good stuff.. 

somehow I would do either of the things to an extent of boredom..  (Law of marginal utility) and switch to the other.. 

It is good to feel bored, frustrated and switch your way rather.. switching half convinced.. :D

How much random is random.. III (free will)

Now.. there is a book that I know which states that we don't have free will.. 

which means what ever decision you are going to take, it was defined by a hell a lot of parameters that came from a deterministic world..  and our body like a lot of things in nature is functioning 'cas of some chemical, electrical and other responses.. We already discarded randomness as not true randomness.. so.. our decision making is also deterministic... (at a very minute scale that we can't perceive)

So.. final final finally... (if you don't believe in some supernatural entity) our future is fixed.. but we just don't know..  'cas we can't handle that complexity..

How much random is random.. II (the aftermath)

If random is not random.. then it implies the world is deterministic..  

What a fun to imagine a deterministic world... 

Let us see.. now some body sometime back.. started (initiated this system) with deterministic dynamics. Since it is a deterministic system it would follow a path which don't have any alternative except to follow the way given by the change equations of the system..

In other words.. our future is fixed. but we just don't know.. ;)

ps: except that free will part.. 

How much random is random..

Entire probability theory depends on this concept called.. "Random event" if you can recollect..

For example.. Coin flipping.. 

Now if you flip a coin the probability of getting head would be 1/2.. but if you clearly observe the number of turns that coin can take depends on deterministic variables like.. the force (or torque) we give it to the coin the and the climate conditions.. 

Since we don't have that precise control on the force we give.. we assume it as random event.. but in reality it is not random.. 

A lot of randomness comes from our inability to judge rather than some thing really random..
